Yeti ASR-5?

by Matt
(Colorado)

I am thinking about buying the Yeti ASR-5 Alloy. I am looking for a bike that I can do some xc racing with, but also something that can perform well on more aggressive downhill technical terrain. From what I have read about this bike, it sounds like a good balance in that it is light enough to race, but also has good technical downhill potential. Does anyone have experiences with the Yeti ASR-5 or recommendations on other comparable mountain bikes that are good climbers, but also can feed my need for downhill havoc?

A fantastic hardtail trail XC bike. I've been having a great time riding all over the Alps.

It might be a cheap bike, but fell in love with my bike. Fastest guy in town, It's just a great ride. I just added a button seal bracket, beater rims, new tires, and waiting to add new fork.

I am new to mountain biking, having bought my first bike, the Scott, yesterday. I rode it about six miles on the McKenzie River Trail in Oregon and can see I have a lot to learn. I am 80 years old and purchased it mostly for exercise, and mountain biking IS exercise with a capital ?E?! I think the Scott Spark 60 might be designated a Cross Country designed bike. Am I correct?
